"Ugh, really Eddie?" Terra twirled around to face Eddie with a wry smile on her face. Eddie dropped his gaze to the floor, taking a long look at the airport carpet as if the piece of gum stuck there was the most interesting thing in the world. Fully embarrassed that those were his first words to Terra, Eddie shook his head in disgust. Terra tenderly placed an index finger underneath Eddie's chin and lifted his face so that his eyes met hers. Eddie could feel her warm breath on his face, she was so close. Eddie leaned forward slightly, more out of weakness in his knees than out of any expectation that Terra would kiss him. Terra gave Eddie a wink and pulled back, letting go of his chin. Eddie stumbled forward a step before he caught himself.
"I'm not gonna make it that easy on you Eddie," said Terra, a mischievous smile alighting on her face. "You should know that by now."
Eddie shrugged and gave her a smug smile right back. "Yeah, I know that full well. You always have been a terrible tease." Eddie became aware of movement to his right. He looked aside to see someone looking back and forth between the two of them. He rolled his eyes, remembering Terra telling him that she was bringing her best friend Lisa with her to the airport. He turned toward Lisa and extended his hand to her with a smile. "I am so sorry about all that. My name is Eddie Brant."
Lisa giggled. "I know who you are Eddie. Terra hasn't stopped talking about this trip for months." She reached out and lightly shook his hand.
"I'm so sorry," said Eddie as he blushed and looked back down at the floor shyly, "I really didn't expect her to say much about me."
"Oh please. She won't shut up about what a sweet cute guy you are." Lisa looked Eddie up and down appraisingly. "I guess she was at least half right."
"Lisa!" screeched Terra, "You are so bad. He is my boyfriend and I'm not about to share him, even with you."
Eddie's red face went from crimson to purple with embarrassment as Terra and Lisa laughed out loud. "Well," said Lisa, "I guess you were right about the sweet part too, at least in a really innocent sort of way." Lisa leaned in close to Terra. "He really is too cute," whispered Lisa.
Eddie sighed and motioned toward the door. "Shall we be going?"
"Just one second, mister. I was just kidding with you earlier. I have been waiting for years to do this." Terra grabbed hold of Eddie's head and pulled his lips to hers. Eddie's eyes went wide before slowly closing, melting in the sensation of finally kissing her. He started seeing white spots behind his eyelids, like miniature fireworks against a dark sky. For some reason, he felt the urge to open his eyes. He opened his eyes to see Terra staring back at him with those stunning hazel eyes, mid-kiss. Terra slowly let go of Eddie's head and slowly drifted back from him. The two teenage lovebirds shared a shocked look with each other. Lisa looked back and forth between the two of them, mouth dropped wide open.
"Wow..." was all Lisa could say. Eddie's eyes went wide as he came back to awareness of where he was with dozens of people moving around them. His face passed crimson straight to violet. Terra thought he was about to pass out and put her arms around his neck, as much to steady him and herself as to be close to him. She leaned in close and put her lips next to his ear. "That was amazing, Eddie," whispered Terra, "Why don't we get out of here?"
Terra dropped her left hand down into Eddie's right and led him out of the airport to her car with Lisa walking beside them. Lisa got in the back seat so Eddie could take the passenger seat next to Terra. Terra started the car and reached again for Eddie's hand.
"I am really glad you are here, Eddie. I have been looking forward to this for a very long time."
Eddie smiled back at her, his features easing into a bright smile. "Me too sweetie. Me too."
Terra put the car into reverse, checking for cars before pulling out and driving away from the terminal to spend a whole week with Eddie. Eddie leaned back in the seat and looked at Terra's face as she concentrated on the rod. Eddie's smile widened and wished that their week together would never end...
