Another Rainy Wednesday in Tales From 2014

Boy this rainy weather can be depressing. I didn't let it get me down today, though. Ok, truthfully, it was getting me down a little, but I tried to overcome it. I realized it was getting to me at the library today, when I couldn't find a parking spot. On a Wednesday. At noon. At the LIBRARY. Yes it's great the community is embracing our wonderful libraries, but honestly! I just want to be able to park. I drove around the parking five times, grumbling to myself. Finally snagged a parking spot as someone was leaving and stomped through the pouring rain to go fetch the one book that I had ordered. I wanted to just check out the book with the nice friendly librarian instead of the cold, soulless machine, but this woman was taking up all of the librarian's time. I couldn't even imagine what library-related emergency could have possibly warranted this woman standing there yakking to the librarian for such an impossibly long time. Accepting my fate, I checked the damn book out at the checkout machine and slogged back through the rain to my car. As I was leaving, waiting in a long line of people who suddenly decided they had to leave all at the same time, a kind person stopped to let me out, and I realized how f-ing grouchy I was being. It was time to move on.

I had lunch at the Indian buffet. I had a nice plate of lamb curry and korma on seasoned rice with naan and some pakora with mint chutney. I also had three glasses of diet RC cola. On my days off, I seem to forget to make coffee and end up with a mild headache, so I ordered diet soda hoping it would help. For some reason, this restaurant doesn't serve Pepsi or Coke. It serves RC, diet RC (which I didn't even know existed), Squirt, Sunkist, and unnamed root beer.

After lunch I went to the bookstore for the Wednesday reading session with Mark. Once again, it was just the two of us, but I certainly didn't mind. I worked on crocheting a scarf after I messed up on my knitting attempt, and listened to Mark read two Miss Marple stories and six chapters of Pinnochio, in which Geppetto went to prison, and the talking cricket was murdered by Pinnochio himself. Agatha Christie was particularly daunting for Mark at times, and I had to explain what a bodice is, and describe what a trifle is. There were some words we decided Agatha Christie was just making up, and some words that must be entirely British. Then we talked about how great Karen Russell is, and I'm bringing him in St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised By Wolves tomorrow for him to borrow.

After our reading session, I picked up a few things at the store and headed home. I set up my new Success Binder that Beckie put together for me so that I can begin using it tomorrow. I managed to get my laundry done. I watched the premiere of RuPaul's Drag Race and the premiere of Hannibal. Both shows are off to promising starts. RuPaul's DR has a nice assortment of queens this season, and I'm really excited about it. The first episode of Hannibal was so wonderfully done. Cynthia Nixon was on there! And Gillian Anderson is back and fantastic, Caroline Dhavernas seems to have more to do, and it really made me excited for this season. Last season was a bit uneven, and I'm hoping this season will be a little more cohesive.

Tomorrow I will start my Success Binder! I will go to gym. I will clean my room. I will take that book to the bookstore. I will READ. I will work on my writing.

I was working on a gay fairy tale erotica story to submit to an anthology, Chance had sent me the link a while back and I thought I would give it a try. Unfortunately, I have no experience writing erotica, and made little time to work on my writing. I did manage to bang out a story (ha ha), but I didn't have time to edit it and have Chance edit it before the deadline. It's probably for the best, as I've decided on a new approach to the story anyway, and maybe I'll find somewhere to submit it eventually. I intend to get it finished.

It's time for me to go to bed now. I'm up way past my bedtime and I should get an early start in the morning, but I think I managed to reach a decent balance between relaxing and getting stuff done today. It was heavier on the relaxing, but tomorrow I'm hoping will be the opposite as I get ready for the new work week.
