Thoughts, Simplified in The One Where I Dream

I feel the necessary need to try to write down my thoughts quick. I fear I will never feel like I have the time to come here, and well that can't be! Thoughts, simplified:

-I was gone for 10 or so days at the beginning into mid-February for a work conference we host. I was in Carlsbad, California--a first. I've never really been west in the continental U.S. but it was gorgeous. A bit colder than expected, but anything is better than negative temps. I really adore these conferences. I work as a communications coordinator for an association for defense lawyers. They go to these meetings to get continuing education, but also for the fun factor. We have members all over the world, so these are the rare instances of actual face time. It is always amazing, but really quite exhausting. No time off, and anywhere from 12-17 hour days. It took me a lot longer to readjust after I got home.

-I supposedly am one of the staff members who will be going/working our annual meeting in July. I won't officially "believe it till I see it"--aka am told officially and buy the plane tickets. The July meeting is in Vienna, Austria. (how cool is that??) If I get to go, Jacob will meet me afterwards and we will travel a bit. Not too much since it is kind of hard for him, but we have plans of being there in Vienna and then heading off to Rome if I get to work the event.

-If for some reason I don't get to, we are so using the money saved and doing something. Jacob and I used to go on trips quite frequently, but since moving to the city things have shifted a little bit. I guess that is to be expected when everything is more expensive, we decided to get a dog, and we have student loans to worry about. Ah well. Such is the life.

-Sophie is a sweetheart. She is incredibly stubborn but still smart at the same time. We just taught her how to high-five which is really quite cute. I am excited for some warmer temps to take her to the dog park. There is one about a ten-minute walk from our house so it will be perfect.

-Jacob got a promotion back in December maybe? He is now an "apprentice" at Chipotle, which essentially means he is training to have his own restaurant to run. He got a very, very good raise but is now working 50+ hour weeks. I am not sure what he wants out of a career or whatever, but he is good at leading and managing so I think it will do for the time being.

-We've got company (Jacob's dad and fiancee) coming next week for St. Patty's Day here in Chicago. It is bound to still be freezing, but hopefully it'll be fun!

-I've started to get the creative juices flowing again and I like it.

-We also have a trip planned back to Michigan in March. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone, but it really really is complicated just to go back for a weekend.

-Jacob and I are really happy. I think we are resigning our lease at our current apartment. We love going out to eat and explore the different things to do in the city. I love him and will marry him. (Someday! :) )

**I was going to post some photos, but it seems to be acting up and just posting web links instead. I guess another time!
