Wow! I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I’ve written! A crap ton has happened that’s for sure. Randy and I got married, we have a niece, 2 new puppies and are on the path to improving our lives. Not quite sure where I left off, but I’ll start here.
I finally told my parents I had quit my job at the dentist office. They freaked out of course. As expected. When they calmed down my dad asked me to help out a friend of his whose wife is a dentist and has her own office. They needed a manager/accounts person. I actually did take the job. Reluctantly I might add. I kinda felt obligated to. Needless to say, it didn’t last long. The dentist and I were NOT on the same page at all. She’s very sweet as a person, but for some reason we just couldn’t communicate well with each other. She wanted me to take control of certain things, but didn’t want to relinquish control. As for me, I didn’t really want to be there at all. I started there April of 2018 and left in August. My depression had come back full force. I was so relieved when I left though. Since then just been working our business full time. Things are looking up there too. We’ve been actually working and it’s paying off.
We took a trip to Texas because Randy’s CNA client had a conference there. We made a road trip out of it and it was a blast. We ate so much good food it was ridiculous. On our way back we stopped at a truck stop to go to the bathroom. When I came back to the car there was a package on my seat. Inside were two tee shirts and two rings with the “I love you” “I know” quotes on them from Star Wars (my favorite movies). We had planned to hike to Stinging Forks Falls which was amazing and beautiful. I was a bit of a chicken cause there was no clear path down to the falls but you were supposed to be able to get down there and swim. And there were a couple people there when we got there so we knew it was possible. Randy finally convinced me to climb down and we had a blast swimming. As we were about to leave he picks up a piece of wood and says “Hey, what’s this?” He hands it to me and it’s this beautiful wooden box that said “Will You Marry Me?” I think I asked if he was serious about a thousand times. Once back at the car I immediately called family and friends. My mom called all the extended family of course. We decided to get married on a cruise. It was the BEST decision. Both our families were planning on going on one anyway this year. So why not. It was so easy! All we had to do was pick the music we wanted, the flavor of the cake, how many flowers I wanted, and which room on the ship we wanted to get married in. It was wonderful. The most stressful thing was getting the legal paperwork in order. But even that wasn’t that bad. We got married on July 9th 2019 on the Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas. We went to Nassau and Coco Kay. Couldn’t have gone better. Most of our family was able to come on both sides which was amazing. You know, it’s funny. I didn’t think it would really feel different to be married since we were already living together. But it does. I feel more committed I guess. My main concern in any decisions from now on are based on what’s best for Randy and me. Not just me, not my family or his. But the two of us and the life and family we’re building together. It’s actually very liberating and it’s a good feeling. I no longer feel the need to please everyone. As long as we’re happy that’s what matters.
Oh, before we went on the cruise we did a bit of traveling. First we went to Atlanta to the Mercedes Dome for a work convention which was amazing. Then we came home for 2 days and we went to Disneyland with his client for this years convention. We flew first class which was awesome, and we had so much fun at the park! We got to see the new Star Wars land (amazing) and went on so many rides. It was a blast. Then we came home for about 4 days and left for Florida for the cruise!
Now that we’re back home for a while, we had been talking about getting another dog. Since Jack doesn’t give Randy the time of day, I promised he could pick our next pup. He found a couple of puppies online and I contacted their owners. The first one didn’t contact me back after our first message. The second one did and we ended up adopting Ludo. He’s freaking adorable. He’s about 3.5 months old now and is going to be a big boy. I think he’s a bull terrier pit bull mix. Well, a couple weeks later the original people we contacted messaged me and said sorry for the delay but we do have a female puppy left. Uh oh. Of course we had to go meet her. And we ended up bringing home Rogue. She’s about 4.5 months old. She’s a pit mix but not sure what she’s mixed with. Jack, Randy and I are in love with them. Jack is so much happier having them around. Much more relaxed. He’ll actually come up to Randy now.
But anyway, now we’re just focusing on getting the house together (which is coming along nicely I might add). And working on building our business together.
I’d also really like to find a place for his mom to stay but I might have to look into that myself. Take the stress off him. But it has been bothering me.
Oh, I went to therapy for a while too. She really helped me. She said my depression is actually stemming from anxiety and gave me some tools and we did some exercises to help me work through situations. So overall I feel like I’m in a much better place than when I last wrote.
But it’s after 1:00 in the morning and I’m getting tired. But I want to update more often so hopefully I’ll be back soon. Until next time!
