Politicosis
"Hope and change", the call sprang forth,
And with hope, our hearts erupted.
But the lobbyists continue paying
And the politicos are still corrupted.
The change for which we’d hoped
Turned out to be no change at all.
Just different fingers in the till
And different names upon the wall.
The gaps grow wider every day
As partisanship thrives.
Turn your cheek the other way?
Be careful of the knives!
The pundits don’t want answers.
They want their daily feed.
Their dirty dose of dire straights
And ratings-lifting greed.
Change you want? Well change you got.
But change looks just the same.
Democrat? Republican?
It matters not the name.
