My husband’s family has been renting a cabin in Maine. We were invited to stay there this past week. It was a nice getaway. The cabin was right next to a lake. We went swimming quite a bit. The first weekend that we were there was very hot. It was nice to go swimming. We also went fishing. We didn’t catch a lot of fish but the ones we did catch were among the largest we have caught up there. They were still much too small to keep, so we tossed them back in.

After the first few days the weather cooled down. We climbed a few small mountains nearby. There were some nice views from the top. We also drove to the coast and saw Mount Battie. One of the nights we went for dinner at a really nice restaurant in town. We had a gift certificate for this restaurant. I had duck, which was really good. They had a choice of sauces for the duck. I had orange sherry sauce.

Kayla and Timmy practiced their driving while we were there. Some of the roads were quite rural. I am trying to give them experience driving in different situations. We visited two colleges while we were there. We are planning to visit more colleges over this next month.

There was a boy about Aaron’s age staying in one of the other cabins. They spent quite a bit of time together. There are a lot of rocks in the water up there. They spent a lot of time collecting rocks and having rock throwing contests.

This week the twins are back working as assistant counselors at the camp. They took a session off to go on the vacation. They will work there until the middle of August, and then have a couple of weeks off before school starts. Aaron is going to a sleepover baseball camp next week. They work on baseball skills and do a lot of other camp activities, like hiking and swimming.
