The cats are having a hard time adapting to a new home but they're getting used to it. The first day Scouty and Silver cowered in their carriers (except Scouty jumped out of her carrier and climbed in on top of her sister, then they both hid in there for hours!) Tessie and Zho-Zho were much less timid. They ran around sniffing everything, and then they both decided that they had to be wherever WE were... so Zho-Zho and Tessie spent most of the night with us.
Tuesday, Silver and Scouty hid under our recliners most of the time. They came out to eat, drink, and go potty, and for occasional cuddles. Yesterday they were wandering around a bit more, and they kept coming to us for cuddle time to make sure we weren't going anywhere without them! Tessica found 'her' basket (John's underwear drawer) in its new location and curled up to sleep in it last night, so all is right in her world.
The most surprising thing is that Zho-Zho has yet to ask to go out once. She was mewing a bit yesterday and wandering around plaintively, so we asked her repeatedly if she needed to go out, and we even opened the front AND back doors to show her, but she wasn't going to have a bar of it. For the time being, she is content to be an indoor cat... this isn't her territory and she knows it and she's not interested in messing with it! She's either pooping in the litterbox like the others, or she's about to explode.
I just unpacked the rest of the cat supplies and gave them their turbo scratcher and toys, and I blissed them out with a catnip party in the living room. We'll put the cat tree together later on today and hopefully the girls will all realise that this is THEIR HOME TOO.
