I grew up in church. It makes sense, my dad was a pastor; my pastor. There was no escape from church in those days. Honestly, it feel like I had hundreds of parents watching my every word or action. At times it was excruciating. A pastor’s kid is expected to be perfect and if he were to come short of perfection it was seen as a reflection on the pastor. That is a ton of weight and pressure to put on a kid.
But being raised in the church, I am left with several valuable lessons. One of the big lessons I am left with is on happiness.
Happiness is not only relative to each individual, it is subject to the environment around each individual.
Our happiness is easily influenced and changed by the things and personalities surrounding us. It is rather ethereal in nature. Perhaps that is why the founders of the U.S.A. wrote in the preamble of the constitution that We have the right to pursue happiness. Perhaps they knew we could never permanently achieve happiness so we would foreverneed our need freedom to pursue happiness.
Joy is entirely different. Honestly, I believe, we should have been taught to pursue our joy because it is a target we could actually apprehend.
My wish and hope is happiness for you.

So very true. There is never a guarantee of happiness; but one should pursue the possibilities.
