Gah! Kitten season is in full force. I can’t remember what part of the kitty chronicles I left of in so I’ll start at the beginning. It started in February when I took in a mama cat with 7 kittens. I named them after Harry Potter characters. All the kittens got adopted together and Harry and Hermione got adopted together and Molly ended up going home with a mom and two kids whose Dad just passed away so little Molly is going to be an emotional support kitten.
Then about 3 weeks ago I took in a mama cat and her five kittens who had sought shelter from a storm in a run down garage with snakes and rats. They came to me from the rescue with mama named Storm and the kittens named Thunder, Lighting, Rain, Sprinkles, and Wall Cloud. Wall Cloud! Seriously! I call her Chinny Chin Chin. I took Thunder and Lightning to Petsmart last weekend. Lightening got adopted right away but Thunder, a black kitten is still there and we put him in with another random black kitten. I took Mama and Sprinkles to be spayed on Tuesday and then out the Petsmart on Thursday I put Sprinkles in a big cage with Thunder and RBK and they were picking on her so I moved her in with her mama. Petsmart was on my case about Doc a kitten they said was sick so I had to take Doc back to the vet at 3 Trails. Thursday I also took Rain and Chinny Chin Chin to be spayed Then I had to go to my vet to pick up a kitten.
Tuesday when I took cats to 3 Trails to be spayed there was a man with a RBK in a box. He didn’t have an appointment and could tell that I was a Crazy Cat Lady so he approached me for advice. He wanted to know the sex and approx age of kitten and what I thought was wrong with it. Answers were male, 4 weeks, and an URI. He was going to take it in. Yay! But then said he had a dog that has killed cats in the past. If it had been any other color that black I would have tried to get him to sign it over to me. I was kicking myself all day and telling myself that I am not responsible for every homeless cat in the world. Tuesday night we had tornados in Excelsior Springs and I got a text from a coworker who lives there whoose dog found a kitten before the storm. She wanted me to take it because she is very allergic. I had her drop the kitten off at my vets, and they tested him and they had already named him Nado. Nado needs to gain about 4 or 5 ounces before he can be neutered. I picked up Chinny and Rain this morning and the 3 are playing in the cat room. I had to bring them home because we have no room at Petsmart. Keep your fingers crossed for a good adoption weekend.
