Before and After in Day to Day

I've been putting up bookshelves this weekend. We have a lot of books. I've gone mostly e-book in the last year, but one can't read graphic novels on a kindle, and we still need to store the existing stock. So I've build four sets of book shelves in the living room and dining room. There are 22 shelves in all. Each shelf has two brackets and each bracket is held to the wall with three screws. That's 132 screws. Each bracket also has two further screws to hold them together. So that's another 88 screws, 220 altogether. I did actually put one more shelf up, but then took it down again to fit the bureau in. So I don't know whether I should count those ten screws or not. In any case. It's finished now, and I am a bit fed up with screwing. Never thought I'd catch myself using that phrase.

I scored some tickets to see the Drifters in July. That cost me £75, which is a lot of money, but I am quite looking forward to it, not so much because I love the Drifters, but because my 7-year-old son seems to be something of a Drifters fan. He's looking to it more than me.

I bought a new watch. I've been thinking about it for a while, and finally decided to do it on Saturday. My last watch went wrong. It is five or six years old. I liked it because it was radio controlled and therefore always dead-on-balls accurate. It started developing a sense of humour however and randomly changing the time for a laugh. It was also a pain in the arse when I travelled anywhere because you can't easily change the time to show a different timezone. So I bought myself a new one that will sync to the German time signal when in Europe, and I hope the Japan time signal when I am in Taiwan. We have a Taiwan trip coming up in April, so I can test this.
