Hey all!

It’s been awhile, so I’m going to bullet point some updates.

  1. We are not getting the house. Backstory: after my MIL found out I was pregnant with Vivienne, she said my in-laws were giving Dann and me the house here in Queens. This was back in November. She said she was coming up so we could talk about it. She didn’t come up until last week (lots of drama with my BIL that I think I wrote about awhile ago). Anyway, the week before she’s coming, my FIL and Dann got together to talk finances with the house. Dann said to his father “how much does this house cost to keep running each month?” FIL said “about $1,700” which is doable for us. We were willing to pay for renovations for the house and everything, so we asked my dad to come down to assess the house (he was an electrician and has been in construction his whole life, so my dad knows what he’s talking about). My dad came down a few days later, gave us an assessment, and we were all set to go. Then, my FIL and Dann talk the next day and FIL says “Oh, I forgot to include the mortgage payment in that original monthly price. It’s more like $3,000” which we cannot afford. Dann told his dad to sell the house and never speak to him about it again. We’re still pretty upset about the whole thing, but in the long run it’ll be good. we’re looking for a new apartment.
  2. The baby is great! The cyst is doing it’s thing and shrinking, so no worries. I’m 30 weeks pregnant and she’s already head down (which is good!) I’m anticipating an early delivery, but shouldn’t get my hopes up.
  3. We’re apartment hunting, which is going as well as a root canal. Yes, there’s lots of places for rent in NYC, but many are just out of our price range. I’m also just tired and stressed and don’t want to deal with it, so I’m kinda sour about the whole thing. There is an apartment I want a block away from us…3 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, living, dining room, and an extra little room! Waiting to see if the landlord accepted our offer of $1,800/month (she wanted $2,000, but said she was willing to negotiate). It will be tight, but I want that apartment. I can’t literally look at it from my kitchen window right now. I wouldn’t have to change neighborhoods, our babysitter and daycare provider are right here, we know the area…Dann is kinda set on not taking it, but we’re not going to find anything else with that much space for that price. He doesn’t quite understand that. I think he’s got the $1,700 price in his head from his dad and he’s stuck. We can make it work.
  4. 5th grade musical went great! So glad its over.
  5. Apparently my tenure binder was due for first looks on Friday…I thought it was due on the 15th, but that’s when my principal has to submit it. Luckily, being pregnant and just finishing up a show, she was understanding and let me work on it this weekend. Just one more thing to add to my stress.
  6. Our new music teacher may not be with us next year. She’s had a few allegations of verbal and physical abuse against students. My admin also hasn’t been super happy with her in general. Just little things and they’ve all stacked up. So not sure what’s gonna happen yet, but hoping my principal comes to talk to me to see if I need to start looking for a new choral teacher or what she wants to do.
  7. Freddie has been good. Its been a rough month with me having to work late and I’ve had something every weekend (workshops, rehearsals, concerts, etc.) so I’m trying to make up for lost time. I’m just getting worried because his sister is coming soon and I don’t want him to feel neglected.
  8. I got my nails done 2 weeks ago and they’ve grown out and I have no idea how women function with long nails. They’re just past my fingertips and I can barely type. It’s driving me crazy!

I think that’s about it. Hope everyone is doing well!
