Yesterday was family day here and my husband wanted the whole family to go to a hockey game at the arena that he has season tickets for (junior league hockey as in 16-20 year olds). I knew it would probably be a pain in the butt with both kids and knowing that Miles would need to nap somehow but I said yes just to do something different and get out of the house. In the morning before the game we went out for breakfast with Mike's mom and grandma. I was looking forward to having a nice breakfast out. Ha! That was a silly dream. Miles was fussy and wouldn't let anyone else hold him and Cody acted like he didn't know his grandma and great grandma so he was clinging to my side in the booth so close that between the two of them I was feeling claustrophobic or something. Omg! I was holding Miles with one arm while cutting Cody's food and feeding him with the other. I got to eat bits here and there but it was seriously ridiculous as I was bouncing Miles to keep him happy, scarfing food and keeping Cody happy. After that I have no desire to go to a restaurant for a while. Bleh. Glad everyone else had a nice, relaxing breakfast!

After breakfast we went to Mike's grandmothers before the hockey game. I knew Miles was tired and was used to napping in his dark bedroom, swaddled in his crib but I had no swaddle, no crib, no dark room. I ended up wrapping him in a huge soft blanket and rocking him to sleep in the bathroom with the lights out and then I left him asleep lying in his car seat. Luckily that worked and he slept til I woke him when we had to leave.

Later at the game, Miles was entranced by the ice so I actually got to watch a bit of it but then he needed to be nursed in the bathroom, cried really hard every time a goal was scored (9 of them!!) and in no time he needed another nap. Cody was also being clingy and so I loaded them up in the double stroller after a while and did laps of an attached mall which was quiet and mostly empty. Miles fell asleep fairly easily but I was surprised when Cody fell asleep too. I ended up sitting and relaxing on a bench with the kids sleeping in the stroller beside me while I enjoyed a coffee and slice of cherry cheesecake from a nearby cafe. That was the best part of the game for me! LOL.

Today Mike's mom stayed at our place to help me out for the day but that didn't really work out too well. She tried to get Cody when he woke up but he refused to stay with her and crawled into bed with me and then was moving all over the place so I didn't get to sleep even though Miles wasn't even up yet. Then he wouldn't let her change his diaper, wanted me to help him with everything and cried when I left him for a second. Oh and of course Miles wouldn't let her hold him either. So basically it was a normal day for me :( I was going to have a nap while she watched Cody too but he wouldn't let me leave him so that didn't happen. I should mention that my mother in law has babysat Cody several times in the past, he usually plays with her and does not cling to me at all. Sucks but oh well what can you do?

I didn't mean to be a downer with this entry so I will end by saying something positive: I am so thrilled that Miles has gone from waking up 4 to 5 times a night for a feeding to waking up 1 or 2 times. Yay!! Soooooooo happy about this recent development :)
