Hot Town Summer in the City... in Ponderings of the Universe

Holy Batman on a stick, guys! It has been SO hot here the last few days! So hot, you would almost rather crawl inside a 375 degree oven than go outside! It's making me really sad because I've only been able to go to the MN State Fair once and that's my end-of-summer-before-school-starts ritual. Luckily it should get a little cooler in the next few days so I'll hopefully get to pet animals, eat crappy food and watch people stepping in animal poop to my heart's content.

School starts on Tuesday and I am trying really hard to quell the impending panic attacks. I had a bit of a meltdown in the shower today, so that was fun. It doesn't help that I'm trying to plan my 4th year externships. That is just too far in the future to plan! And it's totally my fault that I put off contacting places this long. Blahh stupid. Technically I have until the end of September to have all this crap sorted out but they recommended that we contact locations earlier. I only need 3 and one place called me today asking for my resume (which I must revise since I haven't done anything with it since before I started vet school and have been avoiding since because it's a tedious process that takes much longer than you think it should) and I only emailed them this morning so...that's good. I emailed the other two places I am interested in yesterday and one placed confirmed that they got my email. I may have the wrong email for a doctor at the third place, so if I don't hear from her by Friday, I'll call the clinic back to confirm her email address. I'll try to send out an email to the Animal Humane Society tomorrow. If other externships fall through, I can use them if they have openings and if not, I can use it as one my my surgery rotations. I have 2-3 more places as back up and, worse comes to worse, I can always do an externship at Banfield. It isn't ideal but it still is experience.and I imagine they would have openings. And there are probably about 200+ externship options in the Twin Cities that I could go to should everything fall through. I keep trying to reassure myself with these things but the panic keeps on coming.

My Canada trip with Aaron was just what I needed and I wish I was still there. It was so relaxing and I wish Aaron and I could do more hiking in the lovely weather! Hopefully an actual entry on that and pics to come in a future entry...

Ehh...I should go work on my buggering resume. What fun!
