Casein Protein is same as whey derived from milk. There are many similarities to them but its the differences that separate them. Whey is used for its ability to be absorbed into the body whereas casein is slower digesting making it better if one is heading into a period of fasting such as prior to bed. It also tends to be on the pricier side in addition to being a thicker protein when made into shakes. Casein and whey both contain different biocompounds that aid the body in different ways how ever buying both isn’t necessary and it is your total protein intake overall that matters most. Much like the supplement classification it is a supplementary item and one can do without casein protein directly especially as blends of whey and casein have become more commonplace in the supplement market place. It is up to the consumer if they want one over the other ( whey or casein) or if they want a blend of both. At the end of the day it all comes back to nutrition and training for results. The extra protein casein offers can help but it is not a must have ( though is nice if one can afford the extra ).
