This is a nursing anacronym which is supposed to mean "Clinical Diagnosis Unit". As nurses we know it better as "Can't Decide Unit" where patients get put when doctors can't quite make their mind up what's wrong with them!
In this case I am going to attach it to a couple of hospitals, mainly the ones that have treated Lee!
As I said, the first one diagnosed that he had 2 cracks in his Tibia and wanted to put him in plaster. Peterborough City Hospital that he went to yesterday took X-Rays and Radiologist and ED doctor said they couldn't see anything on the X-Rays and said it was probably a bad strain. Didn't know you could strain a bone but there you go, we learn something new every day!
In eventuality, once I'd actually seen his leg,it wasn't as swollen as I expected, being more like a bump on the bone not completely swollen as he'd led me to believe, and the pain was obviously not as bad as he made out over the phone so I ruled out Compartment Syndrome anyway. Today he has rested the leg and kept it elevated almost all day, and the swelling has reduced quite a lot.
I've had another 12 hour day today with the NHS Health Checks. Left work at 7am, Travelled 100 miles, full days checks, then 2 1/2 hr trip home at 19.00. This one was better managed though with a seperate room to see patients in. Half day of checks tomorrow at a Prison, so that should be interesting!
OK I'moff to catch up on some zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's!
Hugz people
