Meet Number 2... in 2019

Maddie had her second gymnastics competition on Sunday, February 3, 2019. It was at the Colin Powell Center in Minneapolis. We stayed at a hotel only a couple miles (a 10 minute drive) from the Center. We had dinner at Buca di Bepo (OMG SO GOOD) and then went back to the hotel and got ready to go down to the pool. Two other families were staying at the same hotel, so we all met down at the pool with the kids. They had a blast swimming for two hours. Kids went to bed about 9:30 and we stayed up having beers. I was not feeling great Sunday morning when the alarm went off at 6:30. Getting showered and all the stuff packed up was hard…then I didn’t have anything to eat and it was SO HOT in the Center. Ugh!

She met up with her team and we found our group/section of parents. She had to be there at 8 am and I have a feeling when she competes next time at 11:15, it’s going to be a bit more difficult to find a good spot.

She didn’t do as well as she did in Milwaukee, but the scoring is much different here. She came home with 4 medals this time. She got a 3rd in Vault, 5th on Bars, 6thTIE on Beam, 11thTIE on Floor, and 7th in All Around. She didn’t medal on Floor, but she did in everything else. I know a little more on what she needs to work on, so we’re doing that. I wish we could make it to open gym before her next competition, but I work all this weekend and her competition is next Sunday.
