Weekend Away in 2014

I have just spent a lovely weekend in the Essex countryside celebrating my Mum's 50th birthday. We stayed in a lodge in the grounds of a golf course and it was gorgeous, so picturesque. I spent most of the weekend in our hot-tub looking out at the rabbits on the hills. It was a world away from home, and yet it was only half an hour down the road!

The boys played a lot of golf. Us girls drunk a lot of wine and did a lot of pampering! We also did a lot of walking, playing board games and watching the Winter Olympics! It was nice to have a break and unwind and relax. And I think it was nice for Mum to be with her family. She loved her presents. We got her a personalised charm for her Links bracelet and had a cake made - it was carrot cake decorated as a hot-tub complete with a sugarpaste lady and bubbles - very apt for the weekend. We came home yesterday and then went out for dinner with my extended family - grandad, aunts and cousins. I dont see them as much as I should so that was nice.

I was off work Friday and yesterday and it was a real struggle going back this morning I had over 30 emails. Most of which I ignored. Just because I couldn't face doing that amount of work. I buried my head in the sand a little and tried to pretend I was still on holiday! I am itching to book our next holiday. I am thinking Greece in late June. I love Greece. Either Zante or Corfu. Martin doesn't show much of an interest, he just grumbles and nods! Whoever said "money cant buy happiness" was wrong. The stability and income from our jobs has taken the pressure off and given us so many more opportunities. I am excited for the rest of this year :)
