What gives me a feeling of success?

Usually the little things, for example, I’ve created a window seat/reading nook in my living room using an ikea kallax 1x4 shelf that I have laid on its side and yesterday, using a foam pad and a brushed cotton sheet that I bought on sale, I made a cushion for it. It really is incredibly comfortable. Of course, that means that it is occupyied by either a cat or my youngest child! Every time I look at it I feel a sense of enormous satisfaction.

While I was working at school, seeing the kid I worked with continuously go up in reading levels because I sat and listened to him read every morning then read to him every afternoon; knowing that I had helped him to enjoy books gave me a feeling of success for myself (being good at my job) and him for working so damn hard.

Walking into my kitchen after my run on Sunday to see that hubby had given it a deep clean, which I had been planning to do later that day gave me a sense of relief that I wouldn’t have to do it, gratitude that he had done it and satisfaction because my kitchen looked really nice.

I also love the way the garden looks with the grass mowed, the bushes pruned, the weeds pulled. These are all things that I do and I love the physical feeling I have afterwards too.

When I have to take the cats to the vet and I succeed in getting the black, emotionally spiky one into the cat basket. It generally involves a fight in which I lose blood and she, ultimately, ends up in the basket. And while I feel successful, she generally feels murderous… thankfully the calico cat goes in without a fuss which makes life a lot easier 😾😺😂

Just a small example/selection of stuff.
