February is usually the warmest month in New Zealand. Think August in the northern hemisphere. The past few days have been far from summery with cold winds and rain. In fact really it's only a degree or two higher than temperatures we had for most of last winter !!

*We did well with the orchids this one caught the light of the sunset.

My poor summer vegetables. The cold wet and then warmer humid winds have brought in blight and mildew and stopped a number of flowerings on the tomatoes from setting fruit. Despite my efforts nature as it always does is doing what it wants and will win in the end

*this orchid was at the botanic gardens. * orchid

Bit depressing !!! ;0). But that said we are able to not buy vegetables from the shops and have surplus for bottling or freezing or making chutneys and sauces. So life's good. ;0).

omg, that top orchid photo is to die for! The only orchid photos I have are from the McMillan Conservatory in Vancouver.

We're lucky that we can have cymbidiums outside under a tree for most of the year.

Hello! Oulin and Arbi mentioned you and I had to stop by. Reading about your outdoor orchids seems surreal to me in the Midwestern US, but I've seen them outside in Florida. And my sister has a bathtub full of them in Montana! Yours are magnificent and the subtlety of colors you captured are rapturous!
