this weekend was full of wedding planning. i feel like i have a better handle on things now :)

i got everything straightened out with my reverend. basically, i was getting two different answers. he was saying he is ALWAYS at the rehearsals and my wedding planner was telling me he NEVER was at the rehearsals. so...figured out a compromise. my wedding party will have the rehearsal at the hotel that saturday at 5pm. it should be over within a half an hour. we'll head over to the rehearsal dinner for 6pm and the reverend will meet us over there to go over the details. his last wedding on saturday ends at 5:30pm and he's around the corner, so it will all work out okay :)

this weekend was filled with flower decisions. did you know there are different species of roses? in all different colors and sizes? it was overwhelming! i honestly just looked at the ones i thought were pretty and said this looks like it fits in my color scheme, lets go with that! lol it was fun though. my florist is a friend of my moms, so hes great and relaxed and funny. he liked my theme and is going to look at pictures of flower arrangements from the 1950s to go with the theme and hes got a good idea about what types of flowers and fillers and things will look good. im glad that is all settled!

also decided on envelope colors. my sister brought up paper samples for me to look at. i decided on a blue raspberry color. the purples they had were disgusting and not really in my color scheme (not like this is either...) and i didnt want to go with a neutral because i wanted it to pop out in my guests mail. if i went with a beige or grey, no one would see it within the rest of their mail. the blue raspberry is very pretty and bright and within the 1950s theme. i think for the return envelope we're going to go with a color called banana split, which is a nice yellow. my mom wasnt fond of that idea, but i dont care. there was going to be yellow somewhere in the color pallet anyway because my main color is plum and yellows compliment purples. my sister now has a better idea of a color scheme for the invitations too. another thing crossed off my list!

im so happy im not having a bridal shower either. i went to a friends baby shower today. it was nice and good to see some ladies i havent seen in awhile, but it was so BORING. she didnt even have bingo or anything for us to play. just food, talking, and opening gifts. i hate to be a downer about it, but it was a boring party. and showers end up being very boring. theyre not what they used to be way back in the day...when the bridesmaids would literally give the bride a SHOWER because people did not bath regularly lol. also, its tradition to carry a bouquet of flowers to mask any other smells coming from the bridal party, since the shower might have been a week or so before the wedding. interesting facts, huh? anyway...

im feeling better about the whole thing. on the ride home, i called my maid of honor and went over a few details. we're going to label the tables with 1950s rock n roll stars instead of numbers (although we're still going to put numbers on the tables for the hotel staff) and we're going to put the rock n roll stars picture under 1 guests chair to decide who will take home the centerpiece, since my guests are allowed to take them home. i thought that was a cute and simple way to tie in my theme to the table settings. im also going to look into getting those plaques that go on the back of the bride and grooms chair that say mr and mrs, but im going to try to see if they come as a record or something. something cute and something we could hang in our apartment afterwards. ooooohhh maybe ill see if i can use our guitar hero band name DnA (Dann and Amanda). hmmm...i think i need to check out pinterest.

things are starting to fall into place. i feel less stressed about the planning than i did last week. now, to get through this week! next week is mid winter recess, so i have a week off from work :) then its get through march, then onto april crazy wedding madness, may will be finish up work/school month, and june is wedding/end of work month! its going to go by fast. lets do this spring!

later PB :) ~mana~
