So, this is my first entry since OD finally rolled over and died. It would have been less painful if it had been executed earlier. The slow death was not pleasant to watch.

It would seem that Ken Barlow has been cleared of all sex abuse charges against him. Two things strike me about this. Firstly, innocent or not, this will hang over him for the rest of his life. And secondly, no one should be forced to defend themselves against verbal allegations of offences that may have taken place half a century ago. There was never going to be anything more than circumstantial evidence. And in this particular trial, one of the alleged victims couldn't even remember the alleged event taking place herself; she just "felt" that it must have happened. We will have to see how Rolf Harris and Dave Lee Travis now fare.

OK, update on stuff:

Remember the bureau we bought last weekend?

You may also recall that some cock-womble had painted it matt grey in an effort to be terribly cool. We had planned to paint over it with something less disgusting, but as luck would have it, the cock-womble was also a horrible diy enthusiast. He/she used a matt emulsion on top of varnished wood, and didn't even bother to rub it down first, hence we were able to remove the offensive paint with warm water and a plastic scouring pad. It wasn't perfect underneath, but a rub down and a coat of varnish turned it into this...

...which we both like much better.

We're growing pink oyster mushrooms in a box in the office, and they emerged for the first time this morning.

They don't really look like mushrooms do they.

Did I mention we had a mouse? I did, I'm sure I did. Well I caught the little bastard. Turns out he liked peanut butter!

He was also rather smaller than the dragon suggested.

In other news, we chose a sofa and chair for the new living room. I don't have pictures of that because it's not delivered yet.
