Friday is finally here and I couldn’t be happier. Any one who’s ever worked at a bank/financial institution will tell you how draining the firsts of the month can be due to a high volume of transactions being conducted from start to finish, but that’s finally over. Usually Fridays are not as exciting to me because I tend to work Saturdays, but I am lucky enough to be off tomorrow.Yay!
Before I head home, I took the time to stop by my place, tonight is particularly fresh and its very quiet. It seems like we might be getting some rain tonight or even tomorrow. * crosses fingers * we all could use a little rain :)
Within the past week, i feel as if a seed was planted in my head and I’ve been more conscious of my surroundings and all the things i may be doing or usually tend to use that may be affect our environment . This weeks list includes:
- Using plastic baggies daily when packing snacks/lunch.
- Running the faucet while brushing my teeth (totally unnecessary)
- Long showers
Clearly these are things that we’ve all heard about , i know i have, but tell me WHY cant we stop doing it. I guess the first step to fixing any issues is acknowledging that is is an issue and i think I’ve got that covered.
Something else I noticed that in a way i could relate it to *The Man in the Maze* would be the fact that a lot of produce I buy is going to waste. I remember while watching this video i thought to myself, “Why don’t these people give all this food to the ones in need, instead of disposing it on a landfill!!” it seemed absurd and in reality it is! Buuut, why cant i do the same? I say it with a lot of shame but, week after week i throw away stuff that’s gone bad. Lettuce, spinach, strawberries, chicken etc. I wont say its because i just leave it in my fridge for so long, but sometimes i don’t portion out and buy what i need to and just buy too much. If it surprises me that a huge company cant come together and save this food that’s being wasted then why don’t i take action and at least start in my home?
