Ahhh my vacation time is over! And so is the MN State Fair. It went by so fast! Mom and I went 10 of the 12 days which I’m pretty sure is a new personal record. Someday, I want to try to go every day. It was so much fun! We at A LOT of weird new foods and walked so much. It was exhausting and wonderful.

Without further ado, here’s mostly pictures of the food we ate with some other stuff :P

Day 1

The first day of the fair was a record breaking day. It had the highest attendance of any first day. We ended up having to do street parking like a mile or so away from the entrance.

We started out with Cinnie Smith’s cinnamon rolls and some milk. They are usually one of my favorite things to eat at the fair but they were sadly kind of disappointing this year-not as yeasty, skimping on the caramel sauce and too oddly buttery. Still fairly tasty though.

NEW FAIR FOOD #1: Cucumber lemonade from French Meadow. Delicious and refreshing! Would definitely recommend!

Mmmm....french fries.

NEW FAIR FOOD #2 and #3: From the Blue Barn we had LimeLight beer which had agave, lame and salt in it. It was OK, kind of bland. The food is the Swedish Meatball Smorgas, which involved Swedish pork and beef meatballs with a white gravy, some lingonberry sauce and dill pickles served on Hawaiian sweet bread. It was mediocre-if someone was curious to try it, I’d say go for it but don’t expect to be overwhelmed with deliciousness.

Then we visited some critters. Which were not eaten by us :P

So fluffy!

So photogenic!

alt text

So wooly! Thank you for producing my favorite substance (lanolin)!

alt text

Such ram!

alt text

Tumbleweed bunny!

This rabbit is judging our weird food consumption.

Adorable little ducks.

alt text

Pretty sure this duck was judging us too :P

alt text

Ass :D

More food!

NEW FAIR FOOD #4: General Tso chicken tacos from Tacocat. The chicken itself was good but they were too salty. The seasoned cream cheese they put on it was pretty tasty. I think it needed some veggies to balance out of flavor. Neutral recommendation.

NEW FAIR FOOD #5: Horchata cold press (pictured with General Tso tacos). I liked it! Very tasty! Couldn’t drink much because my body doesn’t like coffee, but I enjoyed the sips I had before handing it over to Aaron. Would definitely recommend.

Aaron with a hot dog from our favorite hot dog place (Andrew Zimmern’s too :P)

Lambs and ducklings (that we did not eat :P)

NEW FAIR FOOD #6: Muscovado sugar vanilla smoked soft serve ice cream with bourbon soaked cherries, toasted marshmallow and bacon. Not particularly smokey that day (tried again on a different day and the smoke was there) but very tasty. Would definitely recommend.

And then we walked all the way back to our car.

Total miles walked that day: 7.94
Total fair miles walked: 7.94

I love your fair entries!

Cucumber lemonade, hmm. Cucumber is a pretty light flavor, so I imagine that goes well with lemonade.

Those fries, omhmagahhhhhh...
