Peace, Joy, Too Much Fun and a Miracle in At the foot of the hill

What a day it was yesterday! It started out with quiet and peaceful time in Church. Breakfast at home and then a trip up through Bear Creek Canyon to Evergreen riding along with DIL and our (now 21 yo) grandson. Such a busy place in the touristy village in the foothills! After some delay we got a parking place just across the street from the Little Bear Saloon where Mike and his buddy had already started their show.

Walking in, I spotted two women who were classmates of our daughter in North Dakota way back there. One lives up in Loveland now and we get to see her occasionally. The other, who was there with her husband lives in suburb on the SE side of Denver. They have come to other of Mike’s shows. And there was Nick’s (Mike’s guitar player) Mom with his fiancé. We sat down at the table with Nick’s fans, next to the table with daughter’s classmates. By the time we got settled in and ordered drinks and lunch it was already first intermission.

Before the second set started, I looked up and saw a couple come in and recognized my cousin and his lady who live in Longmont. A nice surprise and tribute to Mike! They got a table nearby and I picked up my stuff and joined them.

About that same time or older grandson sauntered in along with his girlfriend and another young couple. They sat down right in front of the stage and younger grandson moved over with them. DIL was trying to greet everyone and went from table to table. Eventually, Papa joined me and the cousins.

The music was great. The “boys” sounded really good. The company and conversation was super. The food? Mah….. And the service was dreadful. But we had a wonderful couple of hours or so.

When it came time to leave, DIL decided to stay awhile with Mike and Nick while they packed up, relaxed awhile and listed to the second band. Young grandson drove us home.

Once we got home, we just turned around and went out again. Some of our Fabulous Friends were getting together for a holiday barbeque and we didn’t want to miss that, even though we were an hour late.

Much good conversation and laughter followed. These folks all know Mike and were anxious to be updated on his latest endeavors. Nobody was in a hurry and the weather was perfect. Our hosts’ back yard was gorgeous. Great food. Salads and BBQ ribs…

But then!!! OMG!!! One of the guys choked… Really.... Our host knew immediately what was wrong and what to do about it while his wife called 911. It was a scary few minutes while the Heimlich (sp) was performed and she could tell the operator that we were fine.... The victim came back to the party a little worse for the wear (and I’m betting he’s one sore fellow today!) but seemed to be fine.

We finished our dessert and chattered on until twilight feeling relieved and thankful for each and every one of our friends and relatives. After all, we witnessed a real miracle. Thank God. Thank you, Larry!

There are people who say that miracles no longer happen but they aren't paying attention.
