Even though I used to live quite close to Hong Kong, I never went there. Fast forward 5 years and I find myself with a 12 hour layover at the very place. Good thing too. I planned on spending all that time at the airport, but then, after 3 tequilas I reached out to my old university friend who lives there. We were supposed to meet up, but she couldn't. She gave me some good info, though. Info that eventually saw me take the airport express to central and then take the tram easy to the end of the line. There I found Happy Valley Pub and Grill. What an awesome place. Good food, hot waitress, 90's music, rugby on the telly. Maybe not the greatest idea to get inebriated before your flight, and definitely not by drinking Wife Beater, but truly awesome. The rest of the trip still looms over me, but for now I am happy.
Oh, and Hong Kong in winter is fantastic.
