Treading Time in Him

This broken thing that I am
Barely held together
A thread I hang by
Watching as parts of me fall
The clock chimes in my mind
I’m looking at my loved ones
Aware that they see my broken parts too
Regret and shame washes over me
I wait for them to realize
The person I have become
Is waiting for that clock to tick its final pass
To cut that last thread
That I’ve been hanging on
