I know "twen" has been used for "twenty," as in, "I'll give you the dime bag for a twen--inflation, yo." I propose repurposing it to refer more generally to people in their 20s. As in, "He went from being a teen to being a twen with no apparent change in behavior until the insurance company dropped his rate at 25."
Just a random thought earlier today. I used to call my other roommate the "dour teen," but then he turned 20. Just calling him Dour (as a noun instead of adjective) isn't doing it for me, so now he's the dour twen.
He remains holed up in his room. He had shifted to a normalish sleep schedule for a bit, but is back to staying up all night.
He has a knack for picking our bedtime for fixing his supper. We keep the bedroom door open for the dogs, and I put the laundry door in the hall open so it blocks most of the light coming from the kitchen.
But I still have trouble getting to sleep.
The dour twen has lately taken to opening his door at night, so I can hear his media if the fan isn't on. In any event, when he chortles or giggles or cries out some comment (e.g., "Die, you fucker!"), I do tend to wake up.
Anyway, after dropping Candi at work, I went to the law school to use Westlaw to research a freelance story idea. Spent a lot of the day there.
I haven't heard from the place that called yesterday to ask me to take an assessment for a call center job. She sounded like they were in a big hurry.
Candi has been pressing me to sell some of the stuff in the garage. I pulled out some electronic gear Sybil had bought for use in her hypnosis biz. I had visions of using the mixing console and mic and mic stand for my music, but haven't in 4 plus years.
I took pix of it yesterday and sent them to Candi's email. She has talked it up at work. Her boss asked her hubby who gave a $25 offer. I looked up the model number and saw Amazon has used of that model for $150. Candi already had the check, though. I said it was better than it sitting in the garage.
So, in the now obsolete meaning of the words, that's a twen and a fiver. I'll tell her to apply it toward my rent.
