Snow Day in 2014: The Year of Learning to Simplify

I was scheduled to work a 14 hours shift today, but when I couldn't get my car out of the driveway due to the ice/snow/slush/mud...well, I got an unscheduled morning off. I may still have to go in later to close the store, but most likely not.

It's been nice. I ate breakfast with the kids, then worked on a craft project and laundry while they homeschooled at the table. Now we're just enjoyed a lazy afternoon watching Veronica Mars on Amazon Instant while dinner cooks away in the crock pot. I might even make brownies for dessert.

Days like these are the reason why I want to be self-employed so badly that it hurts. I am missing so much of the kids lives, plus missing out on so many fun school projects and special lessons....

I just need to finally decide which direction I want my life to head toward and actually start walking down that path. No more dreaming, only action.
