You know that thing about how to eat an elephant---you take a bite every day.

What you've done in such a short amount of time here is very good, and I hope you're proud of it. And I hope you're having fun with it.

simple mind Deleted user ⋅ July 14, 2013

Thanks! It has been fun. With a full time job and a family it's a balancing act. I put in an hour here and there. I like the approach of getting others involved early so that the site evolves based on feedback. I also like pushing it out in "bites" - I'm less likely to break anything major and confuse people that way. Gone are the days of big version releases where everything gets shoved out at once. :)

Deleted user July 14, 2013

I'm with everyone else, it should be fun and not take up too much time? I'm really digging this place. Job well done, M'lord.

Lyn July 16, 2013

Thanks for creating this place. A suggestion so far is that an entry shows how many times it has been read. Just showing the info to the author would be great.

Deleted user July 17, 2013

It looks like you're using just core Markdown; is there any way you could upgrade to , so we can do tables and such?

Deleted user Deleted user ⋅ July 17, 2013

Haha, oops. I usually use CSS and HTML; writing in Markdown is new for me. But you see what I'm saying, right?

Deleted user Deleted user ⋅ July 17, 2013

I guess I can always use google charts, but eeek!

<img src="chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=gv&chl=digraph html{abc [shape=none,margin=0,label=<

Crazy

Table

First Row 1

Second Row 2

Last Row 1

Last Row 2

>]; Ugly-> abc:tryp:ne;}" alt="Testing"/>

Deleted user Deleted user ⋅ July 17, 2013

oops again! Markdown doesn't like spaces in URLs, so that's not possible either.

simple mind Deleted user ⋅ July 17, 2013

You said you just want to be able to lay out a grid of pictures, right? I can add table tags so they're available (I just have a list of HTML tags that won't get escaped), but I also have a better and mobile-friendly alternative that I could write a Tips and Tricks entry about.

Deleted user Deleted user ⋅ July 17, 2013

Yes! YES! You're the best, man. Can you unblock div too, while you're at it? I like doing pullquotes with div.

Decayed Elvis July 23, 2013

I can't remember if this has been posted or not (and I haven't gone through to look), but what about being able to move entries from one book to another? I've got some that should be in a book of their own and they're spread across two other books. I must rectify this situation.

simple mind Decayed Elvis ⋅ July 25, 2013

Yeah, I want an entry manager to make it easy to do that. So that's on the list (and a list of all drafts as well)l.

bookbean July 25, 2013

Reaaallly would like a delete book and delete account option. Some people need to have fresh starts, ya know?

simple mind bookbean ⋅ July 25, 2013

Yep, the delete book option should be available soon. I'll probably tackle that next.

Deleted user July 26, 2013

I'd really like to be able to check a box (on a book, or on an entry) that would forbid search engines from indexing it. I'd love it if people in my life weren't able to find this so easily!

simple mind Deleted user ⋅ July 26, 2013

My plan is to have four basic privacy levels on a book: Public, Members Only, Friends Only, and Private. Members Only would be a good setting if you don't mind anyone with a Prosebox account seeing it if they are logged in. So the search engines wouldn't be able to see it.

Deleted user simple mind ⋅ July 26, 2013

That's perfect. Thank you so much.

delete please simple mind ⋅ August 03, 2013

yes members only perfect

Deleted user July 31, 2013

I think deleted entries should vanish from the front page, not become sad pandas.

Deleted user July 31, 2013

^^^ ignore that, I noticed that as soon as someone posts a new entry, the list on the front page is updated properly.

auburn_girl August 02, 2013

I really enjoy the feature that I can move to the next bookmark from the current entry I'm reading without having to return to a bookmarks page. However, some of this reading is looooooong and I'm finding it tedious to scroll back to the top of the page to move to the next bookmark. This is not an emergent issue, but a "return to top of page" feature would be nice. Or something along those lines?

simple mind auburn_girl ⋅ August 02, 2013

Good suggestion! Better yet, I could just duplicate the nav bar at the bottom, one less click.

Waterfire August 03, 2013

Hi, really love the site, just got the one suggestion. A search function would be really useful, as I had to scroll through a big list of people just to find my one friend. Thank you!

delete please August 03, 2013

Is there/ will there be a way to delete comments in my inbox it gets a bit cluttered? If prosebox was a cute fuzzy animal capable of emotions would it luv me back lol

Deleted user August 04, 2013

Hi, something to maybe think about after the privacy settings are in place:

Sometimes I'd like to let someone know that I read and liked their entry but I don't want to leave a note. The usual practice for this on OD was to leave a blank note, but that's more comments to clog up the database, right? It would be better to have a "Like" button on an entry (which someone could turn off in their diary settings). How about something like https://pypi.python.org/pypi/django-likes/0.0.5 or https://github.com/johncosta/django-like-button

Princess Sparta August 04, 2013

how about a real search!!! hello!!!! i want to type in my fiends screen name and find her. Ya know like a normal site.

simple mind Princess Sparta ⋅ August 04, 2013

Hello!!!!

The site is in beta; it's not finished yet. Search functionality is definitely on the to-do list.

delete please August 05, 2013

Would you consider making a facebook page to get the word out ? I think it might be a good way to increase members.

simple mind delete please ⋅ August 05, 2013

Yeah, somebody else mentioned that. I'll definitely have to look into doing that.

delete please simple mind ⋅ August 05, 2013

k cool

hoops August 06, 2013

Hey Sexy: So, on my home page I wanted to show my Twitter handle but because of the formatting here, I cannot. The handle is @iamhoops but because of the underscores before and after the word am, the underscores don't show up and the word am shows up in italic. Also, will there come a point where old men like me can just highlight a word, press a B icon and have the word bold or do I have to learn how to program?

Thanks for creating this place!

simple mind hoops ⋅ August 06, 2013

You're welcome! Markdown makes it pretty easy to italicize things but can be a hinderance if you actually want to use underscores or asterisks. The trick is to escape the characters like so: i\_am\_hoops:

i_am_hoops

hoops simple mind ⋅ August 06, 2013

Thanks...I've got it now, though I wonder what will happen if someone tried to COPY that and then PASTE it in their search on Twitter. Will they be copying what they can see or what's really there? I suppose they'll have to make do either way.

simple mind hoops ⋅ August 06, 2013

What you see is what's really there. The other stuff is only what's stored on the back end, before PB works its magic and sends what you see to the browser.

simple mind hoops ⋅ August 06, 2013

Oh, and maybe someday I'll add an optional tool to do something like that, though you might find you like how quickly you can format in Markdown once you get the gist of Markdown. No clicking and dragging your mouse around to highlight. Just type

**WOOT**

and WOOT.

hoops simple mind ⋅ August 06, 2013

Yeah, the problem is that I don't know any of that stuff so while potentially, at some point in the future, it might be better, I'm going to have to learn it though, and since I don't use the functions daily it'll probably be a long while before it's quick or easy.

Still, it's good to have a new home.

Without Wings August 07, 2013

I don't know if it's a feature (not too familiar with the layout yet) but in the future can we see who bookmarked us?

I found a few people on here that were on my OD so I was wondering if it would show up that I added them to my bookmarks. Also it would be helpful to know that if someone bookmarked us we can give them total or partial access (or none at all if we don't know them)

Otherwise keep up the great work!

And seeing how I left this note on your site update entry before I saw you had a whole suggestion box book, it would be nice if we had an option to delete comments!

NorthernSeeker August 11, 2013

It would be great if there was a counter to show how many people looked at an entry.

Deleted user August 15, 2013

Spell check please?

Leanne 🌈 September 16, 2013

Please a way to delete comments and/or disable them on certain entries. A spell check would also be cool .....MANY THANKS for ALL your hard work.

Newzlady December 29, 2013

I would love it if the "remember me" option defaulted to OFF instead of ON. Even though I know I must have forgotten to click it off at least once and it hasn't actually remembered me, I really don't want to have to worry that a private book will be discovered accidentally because of this feature. Love the site!
