MOSTLY WRITTEN IN EARLY OCTOBER
It feels like we are moving in hyper speed lately, and your 2nd (GOLDEN) birthday (10/2/17) snuck up on us. We celebrated with a fun-filled day to Disneyland where you experienced all sorts of fun new things (and did great, btw!) Your favorite ride was the Winnie the Pooh ride, and I think your favorite moment was when you MET WINNIE THE ACTUAL POOH! OMG SO EXCITING!

In the past week we’ve seen your vocabulary and communication skills explode! This has greatly minimized the cadence and duration of your epic tantrums that were bubbling over in the weeks prior. It was getting really, really hard to deal with, I’m not going to lie. It was ROUGH AND GO for awhile there. There were a few 30-minute and 60-minute tantrums that were just you screaming, in your room, with nothing for me to do but wait it out.

BUT NOW, it seems like we have moved through a stormy period and we are transitioning into ‘life at two’ very nicely. Your first day of preschool was a success, even though I had some trouble leaving you halfway through the day. You seem to be thriving in a place that is all older kids, where you were spending all your time with younger kids just a few weeks ago.

But you seem to love the teachers, the structure of the day and your new friends, who we look at in pictures every day to remind you where you are going and some of the fun things you might be doing. It helps you to know what to expect, and I’m trying to be better about helping you with expectations.

You’re still very much into baby dolls, and taking care of them. I made a sweet video of you yesterday, completely oblivious, singing to and tucking in your babies. It was the cutest thing. You love to dance and sing, and you made up the sweetest song today. I recorded it and listened to it on repeat throughout the day. It just makes me smile so much.

You’re strong; you’re not afraid and it’s really hard for you to take ‘no’ for answer. We love that about you, but it’s also a challenge, my dear.

Things you love: Winnie the Pooh (thanks to Disneyland!), Minnie Mouse, videos about kids, monkeys, characters jumping on the bed, dancing, pasta + cheese, goldfish, your bottle.

INEXPLICABLE BREAK.

UPDATE – 12/15
I’m nursed you past your second birthday, and almost to December. I kept trying to wean you completely, but every other day or so you would ask for Mama Milk and I just had such a hard time saying no to you. But as of 11/25, you are officially done. Bittersweet, but it was time.

You’re hilarious , delightful, fierce, determined, stubborn, headstrong and focused. I love you so much.
