What do you have too much of?

Cats!

Part of me definitely thinks I should have just taken up fostering instead of adopting. Started out with just Ruby who we adopted from a shelter.

About a year-ish later, I felt a calling to foster for our humane society. Most of you remember the ADORABLE sweet kittens that cycled through my home. I can’t remember the count, but it was a decent amount of kittens who we helped that probably wouldn’t have normally survived if they weren’t fostered.

One of those was a black male kitten. He hid for a whole week after we brought him home. Then he VERY slowly would let us pet him, and stopped hiding. Poor guy got no interest at all. Usually, when the kittens are a certain age, they go on the adoption floor instead of continuing to be fostered. I couldn’t do that to him, I knew what would happen. So we decided to keep him.

Lastly, this past Spring Bobby and I woke up to see a kitten eating the bird seed that had fallen onto the ground from our bird feeder. And that’s when Poppy entered our lives. Juliet and her latched onto eachother almost instantly and now we have three cats…

They’re a pain at times. They think that midnight is the best time to run up and down the halls. And that 5am is the PERFECT time to let us know they are hungry for breakfast.

Ruby has cost us a small fortune figuring out how best to keep her healthy. Thankfully, the other two haven’t had any issues.

I miss fostering, but I guess at the same time - we were meant to have the three that we have for whatever reason. One day I hope to be in the situation again where I’m able to help out. I’ve always dreamed of having my own rescue.

I got a little off tangent…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have a pretty low key week. Normal stuff…Friday, the kids will perform their songs they learned in choir. After, we have a fall party which also marks the end of co-op until January. I really can’t believe it’s half over already. So crazy. Bobby will get off early so he can go to that.
Friday night Dakota gets dropped off at church for OASIS and picked back up on Saturday night. Saturday is his actual birthday. I have his birthday dinner planned for Thursday then I’ll have his cake ready for him when he gets home on Saturday along with his presents.
Then Bobby heads out on Sunday for Kentucky until Wednesday.
Saturday morning I plan to pick up my produce basket then shop for Thanksgiving that will be my own opportunity to get it done by myself. My kids are past the point of being nuisances in the grocery store, but I find it easier to really think when I’m by myself.
I need to make a huge batch of pancakes, so I’d better get started.
