Ho hum, life goes on.

I'm presently avoiding studying for an exam, of course, Nothing new or exciting about that. This semester is so weird. It's like being in undergrad again what with the amount of free time I have. However, since I've had to be so busy for the past few year...I have no idea what to do with all my free time! It's to the point where I actually get bored and I'm not sure how to handle that! I don't really have any hobbies right now (sad) but I'm not so desperate for things to do that I can make myself start working on my rotation cheat book. Plus it's been so cold and/or snowy that I haven't really wanted to do things outside the house very often. I feel like a weird, grumpy hermit.

I have, however, been reading for fun! READING! Since winter break I've read 4ish books which is wonderful! Especially considering read maybe 2 books in 2013? I've felt so illiterate, especially given my voracious appetite for books before I started vet school. It feels good to read for fun again, even if I can only pretty much read comedians' memoirs given the lack of plot. I am currently ready The Sexy Book Of Sexy Sex by Kristen Schaal and Rich Blomquist and it's so ridiculously funny! Definitely thoroughly enjoying it! Oh, and the other day I bought a book of dirty limericks from Barnes & Noble for $2. That should be an amusing time :)

So my exam on Monday is in my Analysis of Urinalysis class. A class I've had 3 lectures in and it's a final...I don't...ehhh. Nice thing, though, I need like 50% on it to pass the class since we got credit for just showing up to class. Everything this semester is so weird! Dr. L, the professor, though is so adorable. I swear, he has a pee crystal ball and can tell you what's wrong with the patient with just a urine sample. And he's so happy! I wish I could be so excited about pee! The other day, he was getting a cold so he said "I'm sorry my voice sounds weird. I think it's kind of sexy, like Lauren Bacall."

I had a fantastic lab on Tuesday. I really didn't want to come in because we had a weather day the previous day and that morning, but we were supposed to come in for our afternoon stuff, which was just lab for me. It was for my Advanced Ortopedics class. Another weird class. No exams, no assignments, just show up to lab and you get an A. I can't handle all this freedom! Anyway, the lab was on external fixation of broken bones and Sarah and I were partners, so we had a lot of fun. We drilled holes in our plastic broken bone and stuck pins through it. Aww yeah. Dr. C, the strange man who teaches the course who seems to be a brilliant surgeon, said that our work looked perfect with the exception of how close our plating was to the bone, but, as we were limited by the length of our pins, it was all good. Woo!

The final result:

I find that the peace sign and duck face inspires one to think you're a fantastic surgeon. Look how sexy that fracture fixation is! Also, sorry the image is huge, I have no idea how to resize images here yet.

Awesomely, we were also the first folks done with the lab and we did well! Huzzah for doctoring plastic bones!

And because I've probably written enough for the moment, here's a picture of Mogget in a box...

Awww, fluffy kitty :)
