House move is imminent. One week today we shall be on our way up north once more. Hopefully permanently this time. I’m getting too old for this moving shit! Grandsprogs are more than excited. We get text messages every day giving us the countdown.
The new working instructions from our client company were as we had expected with a few add ons. The one field-based nurse would target specifically south of the country and around London. The rest of the country would be covered by nurses from the “Flex Team”. These are nurses that work on different projects when required, not specific to any one. Yeah, right, can see how that is going to work. They’ll be given basic training on the devices for the initial training of pts, and when they get asked questions they will be stumped because they haven’t got the experience of the ‘regulars’.
We cover 2 disease areas, but the company have decided to concentrate on just the busiest one. Any training for the ‘other’ area could be carried out by the Telephone Support line…..their thoughts. Ours is….no it couldn’t! A decent training takes between 1.5-2 hours and needs the patient to be able to physically see the device and the way it is used. We can’t do this over the phone. We could use Facetime or Skype, but we would need consent from the patient to be able to use that.
And there are more objections that were raised by the team when we were told on the webex yesterday. Feedback was well received by our Directors and fed back to the client company……who have turned around and said, ‘Fine, we’ll put it out for tender then!’ This does not surprise me in the lest as they have become so far up themselves with the success that WE have fashioned for them, they think they can ride roughshod over everyone. We have been running this project for over 10 years now and they believe they will get a new company come in and just take over and give the same sort of support we did. Well, good luck with that. It really shows that that company just think about the £’s and not about the patients. Whatever happens we are fine until April next year and the end of the financial year. By that time we will have other projects to move on to and I can’t wait. Even if we do manage to keep this one I shall still look to move to another as I don’t trust them any more.
Well, this is probably the last entry I shall write in not-so-sunny Cornwall, at present. Wish me luck with the move, peeps!
