I believed
I believed
Once you left
That things would never be the same.
All things normal
Suddenly fade away
From my heart;
Into the the darkened waves.
Before my very eyes,
I watched you leave
Knowing wholly your loss from me.
I’d take a walk
Far away;
From all those things we said that day.
I believed,
With head held high,
That we’d surely be okay.
But now you’re far
And without hope for grace;
For me to see within you again
Would surely justify
The smile I long for on my face.

***Writer’s note: There are some odd things going on here with the lyrical nature of this poem and the press towards a prose form. The rhyme scheme is somewhat erratic but fitting for methodical madness protrayed in this poem – or something. ;)
