DDR

Strap on your shoes
Lace them up tight –
There’s going to be
Heavy competition tonight.

The lights will flash;
The music will blare.
You’re destined to see
That guy with green hair.

Alas, your name’s called
And you step up to the floor.
You’ve missed your chance
To run straight for the door.

The sweat starts to run;
Your legs get warm,
Adrenaline starts flowing
As on-lookers begin to swarm.

As the wheel spins
You select your song.
Settle in tight
As the arrows come on strong.

The music keys up
With the pulse in against your skin
No one knows
At all who will win.

Frantically you move
With the beat under your feet.
The arrows abrutly halt –
The song is complete.

Wiping the sweat from your head
And shaking the hand of your foe
You step aside
For the next players to go.

The competition is over –
The game is done.
To home you go
Until next week’s fun.
