Towering Down
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I grab and harness
The fate and freedom –
Only to realize
The hate and credence
Of those towering down upon us.
[Notes]
The previous passage speaks about those who are “above”
us in whatever we do; whether it be work, school or family.
It alludes to underlying motives and hatreds that people have
while, at the exact same time, showing absolute loyalty and
allegiance – almost oxymoronic.
While sofly napping
I heard them laughing –
Their frail deeds sullen
And seldom mapping
The lives of those towering down upon us.
[Notes]
What this passage talks about is how when your guard is
down [… softly napping] those who are very dear to you can be
scripting your own demise; Pretty straightforward.
When time came closing
The children came posing
Only to leave me be
While I was posting
The lives of those towering down on us.
[Notes]
This passage is a visual image – imagine kids on the playground
– when the chips are down, who comes to save you? Those are are
responsible for you, that’s who. It closes with a role reversal with
the main character [me] doing the same to those around me.
… moreover…
The overall thought here is that a person, no matter how loyal, pure of
character or otherwise, will become one of those who “towers down upon us.”
It’s basically a small demonstation of human nature at it’s best; or
worst as the case may be.
I hope that clears things up.
