longing.
~~~~~~~~~~~
(For April.)
longing.
soft, delicate kisses
on cool, chilled cheeks
with warm, inviting hands
to hold nightly, for weeks.
i never thought i’d love again
as i was left and lost; forgotten –
with you i breathe, my head does spin;
and nevermore begotten.
cool nights by candlelight;
the glow dancing on your face.
setting sun, hand in hand;
your scent i do embrace.
the moon doth rise and glisten overhead
with a brisk night’s chill pushing you to bed;
your head on my chest as we sleep through the night –
to be awakened again by the sun’s early light.
a new day will follow
and my longing will subside.
we’ll awake together, refreshed,
with no more tears to hide.
