The Christmas Star
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One year ago today,
On a night like tonight.
I lay across my bench
Under a tall, pole light.
At the lowest of my life,
Betrayed and forgotten –
I remember feeling empty;
Destroyed and rotten.
I stared into the sky
Seaching for God up above
But he was busy at that moment
Spreading His Christmas love.
Alone I laid
With tears in my skull
Too cold to let them out;
In fear that they would fall.
I questioned why things ended
And questioned how I didn’t know.
I wondered if I needed her
Or if it was just needed to grow.
Those times have ended
But the pain continues on.
The scar will last forever
But my battle has been won.
