Overlooked
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a few years of persistence,
You begin to feel overlooked.
How long is too long?
Forever? Never? Somewhere in between?
Such a formidable situation that I face;
Especially when you tell me about the next.
I used to view it as another chance
to bring you closer –
Now I see it! I’m just getting pushed father away.
Will I ever tell you that I’m overlooked?
Yes, I will – sometime.
Why not now? Why not tonight or even tomorrow?
Why can I not be overlooked tonight or tomorrow?
I think you know the answer.
You’re afraid of having something permanent –
or so you say.
How can someone who doesn’t know it
tug on my heart this way?
I scoff at the thought that someone
who is as strong as me can fear rejection
as I do. Reject me? Well, you don’t
usually “reject me”; I’m just overlooked.
