It’s been awhile! I’m just going to bullet point a few things.

The end of the year was great! Concerts went well, the AYV field trip was great (except for one kid falling down two rows on top of another kid…both were ok thankfully!), the musical was wonderful…its nice to be finished with my first year at my school.

We hired a third music teacher! hopefully we will all be meeting up for dinner this week. she should be teaching 3-5th grade, chorus and glee club, i’ll be teaching k-2nd grade and orchestra (yay!), and john will be teaching middle school and band. we’ll all be helping with pop music combo and the musical and hopefully will be able to be at each others rehearsals (more adults = more focused kids and more in tune instruments lol)

I received a grand jury summons earlier in the year, got it postponed, and got the second request about 2 weeks ago. went to the courthouse today with Freddie in tow. the security guard let me know he wouldn’t be able to come in (she literally said “you can’t bring your son inside” and I said “well, I have no childcare, so that’s why he’s here!”), and I let her know my situation: teacher on summer break, no childcare for the summer since I am home, and already postponed once. she took my paperwork, said she would give it to the clerk, and I might receive one more summons where I might need to appear one day in court and explain my situation again. so yay, no jury duty! Freddie saved summer!

I went to Florida to visit my mother in law and sister in law and meet my niece. crazy, right? figured it would be nice to get away, my mother in law wanted to bring Freddie to Disney (and I will never turn down a free Disney trip), and I wanted to meet my niece. Dann is still not speaking to his family and it looks like any relationship I’d want Freddie to have with that side of the family is going to have to be my responsibility. It was a nice trip…a good reminder as to why it’s good to keep family at bay sometimes, but it was nice to get away. Freddie loved the plane and the airport. He was really good on both trips. Cora is a sweetie, just not moving around as much as she should, but she’ll get there. I guess my sister in law’s mother in law (ha!) watches Cora during the week and doesn’t let her crawl around much on the floor and Sam is all upset…sigh I just wanted to be like “now do you understand how we felt?” we went out one night and talked, just me and her, which was nice. I apologized again for Dann and we talked a little about the situation. I just wish there was something more I could do. Sam’s a little depressed too…a little PPD i guess. she misses her brother. it sucks.

Plan for the rest of the summer will include a few trips to the beach, possibly getting swimming lessons for free at one of the public pools (we’re on the waitlist), summer music conference in august, dann should be taking vacation in august (yay!!!), planing with my coworkers, and Gymboree. I love summer (except for the heat and the small clothes). it makes me wish I could be a stay at home mom.
