So in my last entry I wrote about how I found out that I can’t get my next spinal injection for another month. Some of my friends here were livid on my behalf, and I appreciate that. The next morning I called to ask if they could somehow get me in BEFORE Dr. Sutherland goes on his vacation.
The receptionist was very apologetic about it, but she said there wasn’t. The hospital, for whatever reason, has cut down on the number of patients he can schedule on one day, so even if there ends up being a cancellation, she’s not allowed to fill it. I guess he was scheduling too many and running overtime or something. Ya know, I am actually ok with it. I do not feel as bad as I’ve felt in the past. Clearly, the last injection HAS lasted longer. Or the stretching I’ve been doing has helped me feel ok longer. Or some combination of the two. I am seeing this as a challenge or an opportunity to stretch my limits a bit more. I said, after my last injection, that I was going to start riding the exercise bike. But guess what, I hadn’t started! I am lazy when it comes to exercise! So now I HAVE started. I am starting out slow this time, using my own sense of “what is enough for now” instead of what Joe or anyone else thinks. I intend to ride it twice a day, and should be able to add to the amount of time, as times goes on. I realize that I DO need to build a bit of muscle in my legs. If I do, that’ll help keep my poor sciatic nerve from throbbing and hurting.
That being said, I had a couple of crappy days over the weekend, but so far this week has been good days, so I’m kinda glad this has happened. So far I’ve not gone longer than three months between shots, and that’s really the minimum you’re supposed to do. So, this time I will, and maybe riding the exercise bike will really help me a lot! :o) I prefer to be optimistic, anyhow, and that is easy to do when I’m feeling good like I am right now.
Geez, it has been hotter than the deepest pit of Hell here lately. Oddly enough, I don’t seem to mind the outside heat as much as I used to. But what does make me pretty damn testy is when it gets so damn hot that even with all the ACs on, I am not as cool as I’d like to be, inside. mops brow Sheesh. Really, there’s only two things I like about summer. One is that I have the summer OFF, and the other is all the fresh fruit and veggies. I will be so damn happy to be retired, though! I would LOVE not having to go to work in the Fall and Spring, when the weather is so much nicer. :o)
I guess that’s all the news that’s fit to print right now!
