We arrived after the marathon to get from Denver to Bermuda. Yes, you have to change planes, but there are only “certain flights” to the island. An 1159 pm departure to Washington Dulles, then a quick connection on a commuter plane to Newark International. A three hour layover at Newark then onto Bermuda. We arrived around 230 pm Atlantic Time.

We dosed on the plane, but for me an early bedtime, is planned. We were picked up, by Anne-Marie’s husband, and one of my wife’s “other” Chicago connection co-worker and headed for their home. On arrival, Ruth says lets go for a small walk on the Railway Trail if you’re up to it. Now, I didn’t even know that Bermuda had a railroad. So we walked it.

Click on the link below, and you’ll get more information about the line than I could ever offer. This will take you to another page, leaving the Prosebox tab open. I will include some pictures that I took as well.

The Trail: Westbound

The start, of the portion we walked. The “Railway Trail” sign (left) is Westbound, the other side Eastbound. Gibbs Hill Lighthouse is North of here.

Looking west, at “our” start. This is carved out Limestone rock.

A shot of the rock wall in this portion. The Bay is on the other side of the wall.

Will come out in the open. The Railway Trail is sand, some limestone rock, pavement, in which I’ll explain a few pictures down. Also it is washed out and rutted in areas, due to rain and heavy runoff.

Stone KM marker for the Trail, not the Railway.

A part of the paved trail. Where the car is, there are residences on each side of the trail.

No .... This is not the Moffat Tunnel. You have to be alert, because the cars, for the residences, this is their access to Middle Road.

The “BORE”, LOL this is looking west.

Looking east, from the other side.

Close to the end of this segment of the Railway Trail.

The end, you have to cross the highway, Middle Road to access the next segment

The Railway Trail begins again across the street. On the other side of the hedge, is the start of the next segment. Middle Road is the Highway, and yes they drive on the left.

Hope you enjoyed the brief “tour” on the Railway. Thanks for reading.

Now I'll have to look up "Bermuda Railway" -- thanks for another 'distraction'! :-)

Absolutely fascinating stuff. It's a shame they took it out.
