Hello there Readers. It is currently blowing a howling South-westerly at about 70-80mph (35-40 knots) outside with monstrous scudding showers. Some might remember it is not my favourite wind direction as I am prone to ear-ache, have been since childhood wnd not helped by being a competitive swimmer and diver. My Mum kitted me out with a ‘pixie hat’ which was great, however, I don’t think I could get away with that at 73 yrs old! Ha ha! I have done all my chores and put the washing out under the patio roof so it will not be wet by the showers and if it gets blown off the line , I don’ have to search the paddocks for my smalls! And the temperature is around 14c or 60 degrees Farenheit. Please correct me if I am wrong. So not cold really altho it feels that way with wind chill.

Life goes on here, and in Winter, we still have a few visitors tho nothing like Summer!I have been mildly busy since last entry which suits me just fine. At my age, I don’t want to be bothered by stress. I have to walk the dog twice a day, negotiating muddy paddocks and the South-Westerlies!Ha ha!
I have joined the Womens Section of the Returned Services association on the Island. I have meant to do this for a long time, as my late hubby was a Returned Serviceman and my Dad and my brother-in-law and Uncles Granddads etc.For the American readers, this is the equivalent of your Veterans association. I might be useful, would like to be, however, it is really to open up my world again.
After my second daughters separation from her hubby and her heart attack and other awful stuff and my own subsequent small hiccup, she withdrew and in solidarity, so did I. I had belonged to many organisations here before, and being a small community, people took sides and it led to a great deal of heartache for all the family, including the crazy lady who accosts me every now and then. BTW: I have forgiven her, and it has given me peace of mind.
I decided I needed to get back on the horse again, so joined the Womens Section.
It was rather like a ‘home-coming week’! I walked in with a friend and found I knew at least three quarters of the women there! We have all aged and it was a very comfy feeling! We meet on the first Wednesday of every month, so not too arduous! Tee-hee! So what with that and Toastmasters and my church commitments, I am happy. Also the Womens Section goes on trips off Island which will be good for me as I am prone to NOT doing that for reasons of cost and just not liking the City! I am doing a trip next month.

I was encouraged into this by a Fijian friend , Serafina, a story in herself. I met her many years ago and she belongs to our church. Over the years I have found she came from Levuka in Fiji the same place my Dad is buried. He was the Headmaster of big district High School and I went o school there. She is the same age as me and was at the Convent School in Levuka. we never met there, however, have struck up a close friendship! I love her energy and friendliness and find her delightful. She loves to ‘ Boss’ me around ,which I find annoying in a lot of people, strangely, not her!! There have been many women in my life who have attempted to organise me!Ha ha ha! I might be too laid back for them. The thing is, I don’t respond well to it. Can be useful tho sometimes tho!
So she thought it would be good for me to join. I am hopeful she is right!

At Toastmasters the other night, I had one more Speech to do to finish u a Manual I had done before! It was a visual aids speech. Normally people use powerpoint with a computer. I detest this as it is like a sideshow! I grew up with slideshows as my Mum travelled and took slides and I endured so many! Ugh!

I had been putting it off! Then I found a loop-hole. Yay!! I could use ‘props’ instead! Double Yay!! I based my speech on what to wear to endure the freezing cold down at my elder daughters place at Pokaka near the mountains. It involved a ‘onsie’, whch for those not familiar with the term, is an adult version of a childs sleepsuit, complete wth back flap for easy toileting! Now Toastmasters can be dour to say the least so I wanted to inject some humour. Also gumboots, a beanie and a very large jersey. It really worked as I put on the required clothing! I didn’t allow pics!
Anyway They roared with laughter and I got a wonderful evaluation and achieved my goal! Lateral thinking!
Now I can choose a new manual.

I am not going to remark on international events except to say that The elections in UK went okay really as Theresa May got back in. Now for the hard stuff!Negotiating Brexit!
And President Trump survives, in spite of such carpet bombing from the media and certain people. The media are an insatible beast and the Democrats feed it regularly.

Okay, thats enough folks! Polz is settling well and sounds good. I am very happy about that. I will attempt to note from now on! Don’t expect miracles tho. I will try.
Be very kind to each other and as always,
God Bless
And best love,
Majimazexxxxx

So fortunate that your winter is very gentle - 60F is near summer temps for me! Your speech must have been a hoot. I was surprised by the British vote - they say that the conservatives were negatively impacted by the youth (millenials) vote. I guess the youth inevitably must take over from we oldies.

Would have loved to have heard and seen your last speech.

Of course you could still get away with a Pixi Hat. At our age we can do what feels good for us. I would have loved to have seen your presentation. Like you I don't like Power Point shows. I would much rather what you did. See you could have worn you Pixi hat, now that would have really made them laugh even more.

Never thought of that Leonalia!!! One problem: haven't got a pixie hat anymore!! I have always loved dressing up, hence all the Theatre I did! My late Dad put it down to me being a 'show-off'! May have been right!!Lol!xxx
