Busy but Nice in Trying to stay one step ahead

The past while has been busy but the difference is, it has been what and when I choose to do it. I have been off work for almost a year now and I have to say I don’t miss it and the time has gone so fast. I worked 12 hour shifts swinging between days and nights with a radio on my shoulder and a phone on my belt. It is so nice not to be at everyones beck and call and actually choose what I want to do,. There are things I have to do but it is on my timeline not a dispatcher wanting to know why I can’t move faster.
This past weekend I split my time between my youngest grandsons’ ball tournament and my grandaughters’ first mess dinner and parade. She joined cadets a few months ago and I really don’t think she had any idea what she was getting into. I hope she sticks with it though. Her mother spent some time in cadets and her grandfather and great grandfather were both in the military. The cadets open up a lot of doors for kids and the experience will help them develop into responsible adults.
