Your wantin' me doesn't mean I have to want you back. in A New Beginning

As those of you who have been my friends for years know, I am Wiccan and belong to a Western Magickal Tradition called The Assembly of the Sacred Wheel, which currently is comprised of thirteen covens in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Washington DC. I am currently, by choice, on solitary status, which is like a sabbatical except that sabbaticals are of a specified duration (usually a year), while an Initiate in good standing can remain on solitary status as long as s/he wants to. The Assembly only has me and two other solitaries. We can attend anything we want to, but are not obligated to attend anything....though there IS the stipulation that we must show up at one event per year just to “check in,” so to speak.

This past weekend, the Assembly’s annual weekend-long retreat was held. I planned on not going. I wasn’t really sure if I was even supposed to, considering my current status, and to be honest I didn’t really want to, because one reason I left “active duty status” was that it often got too darn time-consuming!!!!! I have family stuff I like doing on the weekends! Sure, Joe also belongs to the Assembly, so he goes to everything, but I like spending time with my sisters. It’s very rarely that I want my entire weekend taken up by any one thing!!

So anyhow, I planned on doing something with Carol one day and Sandy the next (since they don’t get along with each other), and Joe said he’d ask if I could attend the retreat shindig on Saturday night.

Welp, when I got home from my lil outing with Carol on Saturday, Joe had left me a voicemail saying that EVERYONE was asking about me, EVERYONE missed me and I can come to any or all of the retreat that I want to come to!

Which could have made some people go “yippeeee,” but I’m such an awful person that it just made me go “oh for god’s sake.” I mean, it is really super-IMPORTANT to me to do stuff with both my sisters. They are a lot older than me and I will probably not have them FOREVER, and I had made plans to do somethin’ with Sandy on Sunday, and now here was “EVERYBODY” missing me, wanting to see me, etc. I don’t want to seem ungrateful at all.....nor to BE ungrateful. There are lots of worse things than being well-liked. But being pulled in several different directions is not fun. I have to say, I like to be liked and even loved, but I dislike being “MISSED.” I don’t miss people. I’m this way....”whomsoever I’m with is fine.”

Anyhow, though.....so I went to the party on Saturday night and it WAS a very good time. On Sunday morning I went to the retreat and attended a class; THEN Sandy and I went out to lunch; THEN I went back to the retreat to pick Joe up. That was all good, but I did end the weekend feeling like I could’ve sure used more time for just plain old relaxation!

And I caught a cold, so now I get to sniffle and snuffle and honk my nose all week. bleck!! And to think, I managed to go through the whole winter without having even the slightest cold!

Anyhow, as is so often the case, I am a bit rushed. I am gonna post this because I have a hungry Lab (Guinness) letting me know that it is his suppertime, and it’s also nearly time for ours! Eaters gotta eat!
