Hi there Readers!I thought on the last day of April,a new entry was required. It has been a really good month for me.Fine weather,a great break down country and few brickbats.
It was really necessary to have a break from all the flooding ,petty politics and trying to make the best of things.

I went down country to the land of the mountains, so different from here.I found peace, I found more love and I found challenges. It takes 8 hours by bus/boat/bus to get there and is so worthwhile.Instead of the sea,the mountains dominate. There are fast flowing rivers and absolutely thousands of acres of farms, alpine desert and at Pokaka itself ,where my eldest daughter Janet and son-in-law have land and two houses, no radio, no cellphone reception and no TV!To some, it would seem like hell. To me,BLISS! And, you can see the huge mountain from there.

I was also in heaven because I caught up with two of my grandchildren I rarely see: Max is now 14 and 6 foot 2 inches, with size 14 feet, and Georgia is 12, quiet ,slim ,tall, and very pretty and with very sound opinions. They are my sons youngest children. Their Mum and Dad are divorced and they live with their Mum, however, spend all their school holidays with their Dad whom they adore and he just adores them. This was a Dad and grandies time with me,the rather remote Granny! Not anymore. I almost talked myself to a standstill!

Also present was Janet(my eldest) and Bill,son-in- law and Samantha (20) Janet and Bills daughter and Jimmy(12) Janet and Bills son and Corbin, Sammys boyfriend.I have an uneasy relationship with Bill as a I lived with them for 6 months after my late hubby died and Bill and I locked horns many times until I left. I still do, however , I am learning restraint! Bill is very jealous of his space and I hardly talked with him at all down there. On the good side, he is a fantastically good worker and adores Janet and his children. I can change my attitude to him and am working on it!
We went out most days to see different places and that was tremendous. The one thing that became clear was, I am quite scared of mountains!Too big and too strong for me.I figure I am a sea person,.I respect the sea and sometimes fear it as any sailor does. However, the mountain really makes me scared! when we went up to the mountain, I just wanted to retreat back! Everybody thought it hilarious and so did I in the end.I am not good with heights at all and this big mountain is just too big!

We also went for a long drive through beautiful farmland, (sheep and beef cattle) and through native bush and stopped for a while at a gorgeous BIG river.Fast flowing and freezing and the kids SWAM!Only the young can do that!I had a bit of a struggle over a rocky river bed I would have run over 10 years ago!A dodgy back and hips slowed me down now and have taken a few days to recover. Those sorts of things and Bill were the challenges. The rest was absolute BLISS! My little dog Taitai was in Heaven as well.Very seldom on a lead and had car rides everywhere. He has been having trouble adjusting to being home!

I was also challenged in a lovely way by my grandies. They questioned me about my childhood , about their late Poppa our marriage, politics , etc etc!Just terrific. They now know me and what I am about.

I was also very happy to be away from politics, local, national and international. I have a lot of opinions , and many find me in your face , which is how I was brought up. However, in order to talk about my opinions , I have to make sure of my facts and listen to others.Hubby taught me that. Consequently, there are times when others can’t accept my opinions and that is fine with me. Alas it is NOT always fine with them. So it was bliss to be away from all that..

And talking about politics , I think a lot of the weirdness at the moment is because most of the media and a lot of people are sitting there just waiting for the world to go to hell in a handcart and they have a brand new scapegoat to take the blame!!President Trump!Yuk!I find that offensive, schoolyard stuff, and I don’t support the view that the world is doomed.

Enough of that! I am happy to be home,Very happy! I also don’t mind the visitors etc. I get to chat with all sorts and I love living here. See what I mean? What I say about politics and where I live is quite different to many views!Remember, these are just my opinions folks. Feel free to differ.

The weather is colder.I feel Winter breathing down my neck and I am not happy about it! However, that is ME.
And with that I shall sign off for now and I give you,
Lots of love from,
Majimazexxxxxx

As winter bears down on you, I am thawing out with early spring. We've had alternating snow and rain for a month, but the daffodils and forsythia bushes are in bloom, and the temperatures have been nice lately (40-50F). Looking forward to a warmer May and then SUMMER!!!

A lot of the problems happening in the world are the results of years and years of political power plays. The problems did not suddenly appear in the past 100 days. It will take more than 100 days to know if some of the new policies will help or hurt. I agree, the world is not doomed and will only get better or at least not get worse as quickly as it has been.

Sometimes it takes a while to make a positive attitude adjustment towards someone.

Yes Toni I agree with you on all counts. I think I can change my attitude towards Bill and just be polite and not forced and I think the change of attitude statement might apply to those constantly watching the new President. The 100 days thing is just unreal.I can't remember any recent Presidents having such a fuss made of it and I am 73!I have a naturally optomistic nature and tend to look on the bright side so know that I can personally change me if I am lacking in some way!Actually I think this is where a faith helps. God Blessxxx

I figure God is in control Look at some of the kings he allowed in the Old Testament. He know why, we do not.
