My take on why Brookings is so safe: in Talk Story

Aloha…

This is a small town… most locals recognize one another…

We are located next to the ocean… kind of hard to think about causing harm to another when we live in such a beautiful place…

There is so much rain… that most bad guys don’t want to come here…

We have a great police department… very… very efficient and well respected…

Most of us own guns… and almost as many have concealed weapon permits… so you just are never sure who is armed…

A quick story:
Two guys from out of state go into a bar here in town… having decided to rob the place… they announce their intentions… and with that… 17 of the 18 patrons drinking at this establishment pull out their guns… sending the bad guys dashing out the door… never to return…

Oh yeah… patron #18… as to why he didn’t pull his gun… it seems he had a pitcher of beer in each of his hands… and didn’t want to spill any of it…
