Really Glad! in A New Beginning

I don’t remember how long it’s been since I resumed writing here after a couple years of not doing so. But I am really glad I took it up again. :o) I only follow a few people, but I enjoy that and I just derive a lot of satisfaction from writing these entries for its own sake, even though I’m certainly not writing anything profound very often. For most of my life as a writer....beginning in high school....I wrote MOSTLY for the enjoyment of writing for an audience. In fact, if no one read it, I lost interest in writing it pretty quickly. I’ve changed! This is just one of MANY ways!
This has been a fun, diverse, and interesting weekend. And the weather changed dramatically midway through it! Friday and Saturday were so warm, up to 75 degrees, it was hard to believe this is still February. Seriously! Everyone’s daffodils are in bloom here, and even some of the flowering trees!! But then overnight, winter returned. Today, while in the 40s, has been very very windy....so it’s been COLD. It’s been a beautiful blue-sky day, though. :o)
Friday evening we invited sister Carol to go out to dinner with us to our favorite place, the Chinatown Buffet up in Dover. It was such a treat for her, she said, going out after dark! Normally when we sisters go out, it’s in the morning. Since Carol’s intestinal surgery 5-6 years ago, she often gets the poops really bad after she eats, so she needs to do whatever walking around we’re going to do before lunch!! She’s usually over the poops by evening, but all of us are early-to-bed people who don’t go out in the evening very often. And when Joe and I do, it’s generally “our” time.
The funny part of the evening was, Sis got locked in her bathroom stall and couldn’t get it to open! Fortunately, we’d both gone to the restroom at the same time. I am not always the cleverest when it comes to thinking of solutions; I was actually down on the floor, planning to try to crawl under the door! I was thinking how gross that was going to be, putting my hands on the floor of the public bathroom stall! But thankfully, my Sister has the sense that I lack; she said, “No, don’t do that; what if we both get stuck in here?! Just go get help!!”
When I told them out at the front desk, they didn’t even seem surprised to hear that someone was stuck in the stall. One of the gals grabbed a butter knife and went in and got the door open so easily, me and Sis decided this must be something she did rather often. I think they really need to fix that door!
(continued on Monday afternoon....) Well, it’s too dang bad I couldn’t have finished this the day I started it, because I am NOT in that same good mood now. I had a great day, but since I’ve gotten home it feels like all I do is scramble, scramble, scramble. I come home from work, tend to our “child,” and then I cook, do dishes and laundry. Joe comes home, walks our child, and then goes and lies down for a nap. I don’t resent doing the stuff I do; it’s just that by the time I get to fixing supper I’m pretty damn frazzled and the least bit of trouble I run into really pisses me off. Like today!! I’m cutting up veggies for salad, and damn if the container of cut-up veggies (that I have JUST cut up) doesn’t fly off the table and go all over the floor! Mind you, I reckon it didn’t actually fly! I suppose I knocked it, and that made it all the more aggravating! Ooooooh, I was just so livid, it was kinda ridiculous, but it’s a good thing I’m the only one saying it was! :o) !! I am happy to say, though, that in amidst writing this paragraph, I made the choice to shake the darn foul mood off and play with Guinness, and of course that got me laughing and cheered me up completely! I wish that when I was a younger adult, I had known how to go from being in a bitchy mood to being in a good mood just that easily. Sadly, I used to ruin whole days with my cantankerousness. But it was all I could do at the time. Growing older is a fine thing, for all we can learn! :o) !!
Anyhoo, I guess I had planned on writing about my weekend. Now I don’t really have time to, but that’s ok, the weekend’s done! Suffice to say it was a really good one! I ended up going to the Croning ritual without Joe, because he woke up Saturday morning with a sore throat and The General Ick. He is over it now, though, because for once he did what I said and stayed home, slept a lot, and took medicine every four hours. He should ALWAYS do what I say! ;o)
Sunday I went out to breakfast and then to lowes with Sister Sandy, and that was fun too. The difference between Saturday and Sunday was, Saturday our temps were in the 70s!! Sunday they were in the 40s and it was so windy!! Now I’m going to post this before I get too busy to finish another tale.....best to just quit while I’m ahead!!
