This morning Joe and I went to the medical center for me to get my injection. Consequently I once again feel like a normal, happy human being instead of the limping, snarling, cursing beast I had been rapidly turning into. :o) I will be able to write about OTHER things now…hopefully for a good long time to come! ;o)
Yesterday was Joe’s birthday. I cooked a ham, which he requested even though I only cook a ham once in a good many blue moons, not a big ham that is. I made it in the crockpot and it sure turned out tasty! I invited Sister Sandy to come over and have supper with us. She just lives around the corner. I don’t invite her very often, because most of the time she says “Oh I don’t think so.” Heck, when she moved here from Ohio five years ago I figured she’d come over several times a week, but it hasn’t turned out that way. She is just a very “to herself” and also “homebody” kind of person. My other Sister, Carol, is not like that and just cannot understand Sandy at all. But I can. I can understand almost everybody enough so’s however they happen to be doesn’t bother me. What I have to do is simply to keep in mind that just because Sandy rarely says “yes,” I still should keep inviting her every so often. Some people just give up entirely, losing interest in an individual who’s not very social.
On our ride home today, we had breakfie at McDonalds and also took a scenic round-about drive. I asked Joe to stop somewhere so I could get some Valentine presents for my sisters. I normally would’ve sent them cards, but I just felt too darn crappy over the past couple weeks to look at cards at the store. I figured Walgreens oughta have SOMETHING suitable. And they did; I bought each Sis a candle and a little stuffed critter.
Carol and I have always loved our stuffed animals. Until Sandy moved here, she had quite a few but she just kept them shut up in boxes! I guess most of them were her son Michael’s from when he was little, and she didn’t want to part with them. When I saw the first boxful, I exclaimed, “oh my! They don’t want to be in a BOX!!”
She looked at me, so surprised, and said, “They don’t?!”
“oh, no!” I said, with the kind of 100% confidence I tend to have about things I say.
She looked doubtful. “Well....where do they want to BE, then?!”
I sure was the right person to ask, alright. :o) “They want to be HERE!” I said enthusiastically, and began finding homes for them on the sofa and a chair and a shelf, all around her home.
And that is right where she let them stay, and she has unboxed more and found homes out-in-the-open for them since that day. :o)
This evening Joe and I are going out to Applebees for supper. Normally we would not pick Valentine’s Day to do this (since we do not like waiting in lines!!!!), but I got the Applebee’s gift card for my birthday and haven’t felt like going out to dinner until now. Hopefully there won’t be a long line!! I’ve fed Guinness already, and after walking Guinness, Joe is taking his afternoon nap. We’ll go whenever he gets up. If that turns out to be too late for us to avoid having to wait in line, we might end up getting fast food and trying Applebee’s this weekend!
