Yesterday we picked Owen up (the 14 year old) and brought him to our house to help with some chores. He helped me pack up Christmas things in a different closet. We moved it for easier access without having to go to the attic. Owen also swept off our deck and cleared some branches and assorted stuff from the backyard and deck.
We gave Owen some money, because each of the eighth graders in his class is tasked with earning a portion of the fee for their trip to Costa Rica in the spring. It felt good to help him and spend some time together. Bill was here, too, but couldn’t participate in the moving due to back issues right now.
When we took Owen home, we surprised him by taking a side trip to Duck Donuts to get some warm, made to order treats. He was delighted with that!
